my name is maya and i'm a hamburg based tattoo artist. i’ve been tattooing since 2020 and my style has been continuously evolving since then. right now my main focus is incorporating the natural flow of the body with the precise lines and exact symmetry that i’ve loved since the beginning.
being in close exchange with my customers to fulfill our shared vision is a priority for me throughout the whole process.
Yes, a deposit is required. Since I often have to plan my appointments several weeks in advance, this gives me greater planning security. It also serves as compensation in the event of a last-minute cancellation, as I have often already invested time in designing your motif and I am usually unable to fill the appointment, which means a significant loss of income for me.
The price of the tattoo is based on its size and complexity. Once I have more detailed information about your idea, I can give you a price estimate. For small to medium-sized designs, I can then give you an exact price range (e.g., €400-450). For day sessions, I cap my daily rate at approximately 4.5 hours. So if we exceed that, it won't be any more expensive. If, on the other hand, we finish earlier, the session will of course be cheaper.
After we have discussed your idea, I can estimate the time we will need for the appointment and give you a price estimate, I can then suggest suitable appointment times for your idea. Sometimes, before setting an appointment, I also ask for a consultation appointment so that we can discuss your idea in more detail or simply get to know each other if it is clear that we will be spending several sessions together. This can be done either in the studio or via video chat if you live further away.
Once we have agreed on an appointment, you will receive a confirmation email from me with the latest information regarding deposit, address, etc. Your appointment is then officially booked.
That depends very much on your ideas and wishes. As a general rule, the larger and more complex the design, the longer it takes!
So if you want a back piece consisting of simple lines that accentuate the body, it will take less time than a back piece with lots of black or shaded areas. Depending on the design, a back piece can take anywhere from one to five days.
The following always applies: We only go as far as you can and want to go!
My goal during the first session is to customize the design together until we are both completely satisfied. Then I transfer the design to your body in the best possible way (sometimes by drawing the design directly onto your skin with pencils instead of using a stencil). And finally, I tattoo all the outlines. I consider this important because every subsequent tattoo session takes much less time if the "foundation" is already in place and we don't have to spend time reapplying the template.
This means that the first session is usually long, but the actual "tattooing time" is relatively short. However, if you can't last that long and we don't manage to complete all the outlines in the first session, that's perfectly fine! No stress.
We only go as far and work as long as you feel comfortable with in each session.
For longer tattoo sessions, it is particularly important to have had enough sleep and food before your appointment. Of course, it is always possible that the day will be particularly stressful for you for some reason. We can always take as many breaks as you need, although several short breaks are better than a few long ones. Because I cap my appointments at 4.5 hours, you "win" if you can keep going longer (because you pay less in proportion), but you don't "lose" if we stop early (because we then become cheaper according to my hourly rate). So don't feel bad if you can't go on any longer. This can vary greatly depending on how you feel on the day.
I would advise against using numbing creams, as these can cause allergic reactions or alter the properties of the skin, which can make tattooing more difficult and thus affect the result.
Please start applying your favorite body lotion to the desired area at least one week before your appointment. This will make my work much easier. If you have sensitive skin and can reach the area yourself, I recommend shaving it at home, as I only use disposable razors in the studio.
Make sure you are well rested and have eaten plenty. It is best to bring snacks and drinks with you to your appointment, or even a full meal if a longer session is planned. Appropriate clothing (warm, loose, short—depending on the tattoo location and weather) or items for your comfort (stress ball, headphones, etc.) can also make the session easier for you.
After the appointment, it is important to take it easy! It is best not to have any appointments immediately afterwards and to give yourself the rest of the day off. Taking a break from exercise (approx. 2 weeks!) is also important for optimal healing. I will explain everything else about aftercare at the end of the session :)
